About Us

The American Society of Civil Engineers, better known as ASCE, was founded in 1852 and represents more than 123,000 civil engineers worldwide. ASCE is America's oldest national engineering society. ASCE advances professional knowledge and improves the practice of civil engineering through publications, conferences, leadership opportunities, and networking opportunities.

The OSU Student Chapter of ASCE organizes a wide range of activities including speaker meetings, field trips, career fairs, community service projects, and participates in competitive projects, such as the concrete canoe, steel bridge and timber bridge contests. These activities are excellent opportunities to gain experience and build relationships that cannot be found in the classroom. Activities are also meant to be fun and give students a break from typical schoolwork. Many opportunities are provided to begin to build networks with engineering professionals and explore career options in civil engineering.

National ASCE Student Membership is FREE once you are an OSU student chapter member! Qualify for national ASCE scholarships, keep up with the latest developments in civil engineering, and there.s a national resume service for students as well. Apply online quickly and easily at https://www.asce.org/online. If needed, Dr. Miller's ASCE number is 194749 and OSU's school code is 45864. Renew each year at http://www.asce.org/renewal/.
