Beta Alpha Psi

Beta Alpha Psi is a national scholastic and professional accounting fraternity formed in 1919. The primary objective of the fraternity is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the field of accounting. This includes promoting the study and practice of accounting; providing opportunities for self-development and association among members and practicing accountants, and encouraging a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility. The Oregon State University chapter is called the Epsilon Chapter because it was the fifth chapter organized in the nation. Students who are interested in joining should contact a current officer, attend weekly meetings and read the requirements for pledging and membership.

The OSU Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi is the professional accounting organization on campus. We are a member of the international Beta Alpha Psi organization, along with over 200 other chapters from around the world. Our main goal is to provide our members and pledges the opportunity to meet a variety of representatives from the accounting profession. We also strive to keep students updated on current accounting issues by hosting presentations given by practicing professionals within the accounting industry.

We hold a wide range of activities and programs throughout the year including several social gatherings where students and professionals have the opportunity to interact in a non-interview setting and opportunities for students to participate in community service projects.

Current Activities

Our meetings are held every Wednesday night at 6:00 pm in Bexell 207 (except Dead Week and Finals Week). We have a variety of speakers give presentations about current issues within the accounting industry, and different paths accounting graduates can take. Our goal is to help our students become professionals and "Bridge the Gap" between college and work life. We participate in a variety of Community Service events, social events, host the career showcase "Meet the Firms" each fall for accounting students, and host the Spring Awards Banquet for the Accounting Program.

The OSU Beta Alpha Psi website is located at the following web address: "http://oregonstate.edu/groups/bap/". Here, you can find current information about the chapter, our meeting schedule, contact information, pledging information and much more.

We also provide free tutoring to students in the Introductory Accounting classes: BA 211, BA 213, and BA 215. Tutoring is provided through our office located in Bexell 420. Our current tutoring schedule is also listed on our website.
