About Us

The OSU Country Western Dance Club is open to anybody who is interested in country western dancing. All OSU and non-OSU community members are welcome to join, however you must be an OSU student and meet university guidelines to be an officer.

The club sponsors country dances on campus and also holds special events for club members and in the past has had events like BBQ's, pizza feeds, beach trips, dance workshops, and any other event we can get together and have some fun.

We are a diverse group, many different majors, some always wear boots & buckles, but many don't even own them. If you want to meet new people and have some fun, consider joining.

It also doesn't hurt if you enjoy country music (although you can country dance to Green Day or Meredith Brooks, it just doesn't seem natural). If you have never listened to country music before, who knows - you might even find that you like it?

The club usually holds two dances during each fall, winter, & spring term in the Memorial Union Ballroom on campus in Corvallis. This is one of the biggest and best wooden dance floors in Oregon and you can comfortably dance even with several hundred of your closest friends out there at the same time. Almost 4800 sq. ft. of dance floor.

The dances are open to all who want to attend. No age requirements or OSU affiliation required. One of the spring term dances is a special fundraising dance for the Mid-Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross which serves Linn & Benton Counties.

Admission to most dances is only $5 per person (except for Red Cross Dance which adds a donation) and the first dance of each term is often FREE. Lessons for various partner dances are taught from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and the dance runs from 8:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. Music is supplied by the club's professional sound system and DJ'ed by club members using CD's from our large collection of country music. We aim to provide a fun, smoke & alcohol free environment for people who just want to have a great time dancing. We hold monthly meetings on campus and if you would like to become a member, feel free to just show up at one and introduce yourself. You don't even have to know how to dance, but the desire to learn doesn't hurt. If you hang out with us long enough, we guarantee you will learn something. If you would like any more information about the club, click on any of the officers listed below and you can e-mail your questions.

We hope to see y'all soon.
