Kate and Matt, MU President and MU VP 2007

Kate Normandin and Matt Vancil are promoting student involvement within the Memorial Union. They want students to feel more connected to the spirit of the Memorial Union, and receive the services and programs they want and need.

It is Kate and Matt’s goal as MU President and Vice President to utilize the Memorial Union Program Council directors and make them full time programmers for the students, bringing new and exciting small programs to campus. They also wish to expand MUPC to involve student committees. This would enable more students to have a voice in the programs MUPC hosts.

However, Kate and Matt’s main focus is to build a connection between student organizations and create a greater sense of campus unity and direction. This would also provide the means for bigger and better programs for all organizations.

Through this Kate and Matt hope students will have the opportunity to participate, feel connected, and be engaged in their college experiences.

Kate and Matt work for MU and serve as MUPC Directors. They have the experience necessary to serve as Memorial Union President and Vice President. They ask for your support and vote. Thanks!!

About Kate and Matt

“Hi!! My name is Kate Normandin and I am running for MU President. I am a junior, Liberal Studies major with a focus in behavioral sciences and a minor in Spanish. My passions are people, music, surfing, being creative, and my doggie Maggie. My passions specific to college have been within the MUPC, working with other students, my involvement in my sorority, Delta Gamma, and taking in all that college and college life has to offer. However, my greatest love is working with others and solving problems to make the lives of others easier. I love finding answers and learning how to improve things so that all our college experiences may be enriched. The more students that I have been able to meet, interact with, and work with, the better my college experience has been. I wish to be able to serve as President and give back to the MU and all its students have given to me. I have been fortunate enough to be involved with MUPC for my entire three years at OSU. I have worked under the past three MU Presidents and have had hands on experience in bringing events to the campus, as well as the opportunity to get involved in many other aspects of the Union. This involvement has allowed me to grow so much as an individual and gain the experience I feel is necessary to take on the position of MU President. I am eager to solve more problems, start new things, and interact with more and more students on a daily basis to make the MU a better building for all and to provide students with a greater connection to the Union. I would love to meet you!! If you ever see me on campus and want to learn more about the elections or why Matt and I are running, don’t hesitate to say hi!  :o)”

Having fun campaigning with Delta Gamma!

“Hi! I am Matt Vancil and I am running for Memorial Union Vice President. I am a senior in Exercise Sport Science with a focus in Physical Therapy and Education. I currently am serving as a Director with the Memorial Union Programs Council creating and putting on events year round for the student body. Events so far this year I’ve had a hand in programming were Dads Weekend, The Children’s Holiday Party and the Woman’s Leadership Conference. I personally directed and put on the first country concert here at OSU in 14 years with headline band “Emerson Drive” which was a huge success. I also spend time with my other job working as a Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician with the Corvallis Fire Department. My purpose for running for Vice President of the MU is to bring more awareness to what the MU has to offer and to bring in more students to be involved with the MU which in turn will hopefully enhance there college experience. I love working with people and being able to solve problems on the run, and feel that I would fit the position of Vice President very well. I love meeting and interacting with new people so please feel free to come by the MUPC office or send me an e-mail if you have any questions about our campaign or if you just want to chat. Thank you for all your support!”
