Why was tests placed on unacceptable content? This is an information sharing website?--Eric Blair 06:46, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

The reason that tests are not acceptable is that we feel like we would be encouraging academic dishonesty. Instructors already know that test files exist with papers, exams quizzes etc. and they hate that. We do not want to tread into the gray area when it comes to academic dishonesty. It also adds credibility to this site as a resource for all, including instructors and professors, if we do not allow those things.

We are not even sure if instructors will like having notes from their classes posted, so at this point we say that we would like instructor permission. We also know that we have no way of knowing if an instructor has given permission to post notes. At this point we are going to go with this until we get complaints from an instructor who notes have been posted. At that point, policies will be reexamined and adapted as necessary.

If we know that "Test files exist with papers, exam quizzes etc." is it fair that only a select few individuals have access?

How would using an old test promote academic dishonesty? If an instructors main goal of a test is to have the student prove their knowledge on important areas, wouldn’t posting tests allow for students to better understand what the professor demands?

In the acceptable content page there is a statement asking not to delete content, "Pleas (sic) do not just delete information just because you disagree with it." There is also the statement, "Tests, exams, homework, assignments, papers, quizzes or any graded material is not acceptable. All information of this sort will be promptly removed by the administrators." Don't these two statements contradict each other?

Finally, who is "we” in the pervious statements? --Eric Blair 19:03, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

"we" are the student group Leaders of Positive innovation. We are a group that is recognized as a student group by the university. We are the started this project back in January. We are also the administrators or "Wiki Nomes" for the site. It is our job to make sure that all content that is added is addend in good taste and in accordance with the policies. We are the ones who are setting the policy as we go along.

As mentioned above we are still developing the wiki. We are sort of taking a reactionary approach to making policy about the wiki. When something happens we then decide the policy that should go along with it. You seem like someone who is genuinely interested in the wiki. If you would like to help develop the Wiki, we meet in mu 110 at 7:00 on Thursday nights. We would like to have your input on helping with this project.
